January 2012 - Keeping up with Technology

Keeping up with technology, Pierlite introduce a faster way to access Pierlite web-media on the run, via the creation of a new mobile web site. To access the site simply open your smart phone internet browser and search for Pierlite; where you will be directed to the new mobile web site. Easy navigation, simply to use, up to date media, easy access to our main web site, information on the run!

If you experience difficulties identifying the site? Simply delete your browsing history and cookies, select accept cookies - from "Visitors sites" or "Always" then reboot your smartphone.

August 2011 - The Cloud

Unusual structures often require unusual lighting designs, as was the case with the New Zealand project affectionately referred to as "The Cloud". The construction of this building on the Auckland waterfront, which is planned as the entertainment hub for the 2011 World Cup Rugby Union tournament, provided the design team at Gerard Lighting NZ a unique challenge.The physical nature of the construction with its twisting shape created many challenges for the lighting designers. In brief, the lighting concept was to illuminate the building in such a way as to allow it to glow and stand out on the waterfront as an iconic architectural statement.

The solution: five hundred (500) DALI controlled coloured fluorescent lamps installed in Pierlite BWPT/5 luminaires installed along the twisting structure on both sides of the building. A unique self adhesive mounting system designed and manufactured by the team at Gerard Lighting NZ was used to avoid drilling of the beams and to provide an even colour distribution onto the canvas surface. Pierlite Australia introduce the innovative QR code reader for dynamic links to our products and services. Using smartphone technology, the new QR reader links the user to the designated URL, providing up to date information at the touch of a button. March 2011-Photography Competition Winner for February 2011

Congratulations to Philip Motteram of Aurecon Group for his photography of Adelaide Oval, located in Adelaide, SA. The project  consisted of the redevelopment of  the Western Grandstand, with two tasks needing to be completed. The first was to give general lighting to the new stand promoting the architectural features. The second was to fill shadowing created by the new stand on the playing field.  The impressive photography showcases an exceptional lighting outcome,and with the combined team of Aurecon, Nilsens and Pierlite both these tasks were achieved.

The project consisted of the upgrade and refurbishment of four (4) railway stations (Cronulla, Kirrawee, Sutherland and Woolooware), including upgrades to the emergency lighting requirements for all stair locations, canopy structures and footbridges. Sydney Harbour, Kirribilli NSW

Pierlite was invited to provide a modern and practical lighting design for the NSW Maritime, Sydney Public Wharves. The luminaire of choice was the Delta series based upon its superior optical performance and ability to minimise any potential glare source for the approaching ferry captains. Located on each public ferry wharf around the beautiful Sydney Harbour, this exceptional and innovative design provided a professional design solution for BCA and the Maritime's design standards.
