Full LED design solution

This existing office tower owned by QIC had remained unchanged since its construction in the 1970’s.

Balancing energy efficiency with commerical expectations

For 61 Mary St, Brisbane, Pierlite was asked to design a full LED solution for net lettable and core building areas, including office areas, meeting rooms, communications rooms, foyers, lunch breakout rooms, toilets and basement.

The brief was to refit the entire building including supplying energy efficient lighting. Although not strictly a ‘Greenstar Project’, it was designed with that intent, whilst meeting the client’s commercial expectations.

The flexibility to meet an industrial brief

In each breakout lunch room, DOT9700 Surface cans were used. The architect envisaged an industrial style area with exposed vents, concrete ceilings, cable trays etc. Pierlite presented the DOT can with a powder coated rod which was initially seen by the client as being ‘too modern’. We were able to work with our supplier to provide the can with a customised back plate so the electrical contractor could install using threaded rod. This change brought the lighting solution in line with the industrial theme.

The entire project was completed within a 5-month period.
