An urban oasis in the heart of Karratha

Karratha, an Aboriginal word meaning ‘good country’, is located 1,557 kilometres north of Perth on Nickol Bay. The Quarter, in the heart of Karratha city is a new destination for residents, businesses, shopping and community events.

A Western Australia State Government project through Landcorp, The Quarter is an urban oasis characterised by a bustling city square, cool, shady streets, contemporary architecture and a rich street culture unique to the Pilbara.

A complete lighting scheme

Pierlite provided a complete lighting scheme for The Quarter, including 46 apartments used to accommodate the service workers of Karratha, as well as commercial and retail spaces.

As a State Government project, the brief was to deliver a comprehensive and contemporary lighting design within an assigned budget.

With the wide variety of brands and options available with Pierlite, we were able to provide a cost effective solution and a lighting design approach that both delivered a quality result and met Australian Standards and Compliance.

Existing solutions

Using a combination of Crompton, Pierlite & DOT LED fittings, Pierlite delivered on reducing the maintenance factor for this remote location.

The end result was that Pierlite devised a sustainable lighting solution utilising current LED technology to deliver capital city quality now and for the future, to an isolated community located some 16 hours drive north of Perth.

Thanks to the strength of our R&D team, Pierlite took a complex lighting puzzle and came up with the best, most efficient and impactful lighting solution.

Industry recognition

In recognition of the delivered solution, The Quarter project was a finalist in the Commercial Medium Project Category at the 2016 WA NECA Excellence Awards, receiving a commendation on the night.
